The foundation process

Do you have a RDM topic that you would like to address in a Community Cluster (CC)? Build up a CC initiative group together with other interested members of the community. We have compiled the most important points about the application/formation process for you here:

The preparation

  • The establishment of Community Clusters in NFDI4Objects requires the approval of the Steering Committee.

  • Two chairs are responsible for coordinating and managing the Community Cluster. One of the two chairs must be affiliated to one of the consortium members (= institutional contractual partners) of NFDI4Objects in order to ensure close ties to the consortium. Both chairs are approved by the Steering Committee along the application process.

The foundation process

  • To submit an application, a CC Proposal Form ("New Proposal") must be completed in German and English and submitted to the Steering Committee for approval. Steering Committee meetings are held monthly on a given Friday. Therefore, please submit your CC Proposal via our Community Hub at the beginning of a session week (Mondays at 12 noon).

  • It is recommended to present the contents of the planned Community Cluster in one of the Friday Round Table Meetings of the consortium before submitting the application in order to receive constructive feedback. Please contact the Scientific Director Christin Keller (German Archaeological Institute) to coordinate appointments throughout the process.

  • Once the CC Proposal has been approved by the Steering Committee, the CC application will be published in the NFDI4Objects Zenodo Community by the Community Manager or the Coordination Office.

The active Community Cluster

  • The Community Cluster is free to choose its means of communication and to coordinate and conduct meetings and activities.

  • The meetings can be held in any format of the Community Cluster's choice (usually online). It is recommended that meetings be held at least every six months. Invitations to the meetings should be sent out at least by mailing list, but other communication channels are also welcome.

  • Minutes of the meetings should be published in order to ensure transparency of the  Community Cluster’s activities to the community.

  • The activities of the Community Cluster are monitored by NFDI4Objects. The General Assembly may dissolve any Community Cluster in the event of inactivity or in the event of activities that contradict the objectives of NFDI4Objects.
