About this assembly

The TWG on the “CARE Principles” focuses on safeguarding the rights of Indigenous peoples in research data within Open Data and Open Science, emphasizing Collective Benefit, Authority to Control, Responsibility, and Ethics. Its goal is to raise awareness among researchers in archaeology and related fields, identify potential pitfalls, and analyze the relevance of the CARE Principles specifically for historical objects in NFDI4Objects. A key question is how these principles impact research data management (RDM), especially regarding “soft factors” like communication and participation, and how high compatibility with the FAIR Principles can be achieved. The TWG will develop a guideline to help determine whether data should be considered sensitive under the CARE Principles.
